Professor Jim's quick analysis Using information from the above website we make a couple of calculations to see when we'll run out of oil.

Imported Oil The United States imports well over half of its petroleum. Where does it come from?

Forgotten Fundamentals of the Energy Crisis This analysis was published 24 years ago at a time when the U.S. was still grappling with the effects of the 1973 OPEC oil embargo. It is, in part, an interesting historical document with references to President Carter and policies to encourage energy conservation. More than that, it is a basic primer in the exploitation of a finite resource and the implications of exponential growth. The discussion includes little mathematics and should be readable by just about anyone.

Hubbert's Peak This book provides a reasonable analysis of world oil reserves and the likely date of the peak in world production.

The end of oil This website is dedicated to the analysis of world oil resources and to trying to understand when the supply of the limited resource will not be able to meet demand.

Perpetual motion and infinite energy Here is an interesting ad which appeared in Newsweek magazine in September 2001.
